Description:

Software Architect

An experienced Software Architect is needed for a Direct-Hire position in Fort Washington, PA. You will oversee the design and specification of new systems and applications being built in AWS cloud. You’ll guide and mentor multiple agile development squads on implementing best practices in areas such as containers, micro-services, and AWS services. While helping to define the technology stack, you will advocate for security, performance, separation of concerns, and scalability in the software. As you learn about our products, you will collaborate with our Product Managers, Engineers and QA, Business Analysts, UX Designers, and Support Staff improving and delivering software that is outstanding in our markets, contributing to the success of our users and helping them make the world a better place.

Responsibilities of the Software Architect:

  • Draw on prior experience designing, building, and/or maintaining  Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions in the AWS cloud that are highly-available and highly-scalable.
  • Collaborate effectively inside and outside the Engineering team using Agile methodologies.
  • Prototype solutions that help light-the-way for teams learning to use new technology or paradigms, such as micro-services using Docker, or serverless using Lambda, or API design using GraphQL.
  • Mentor engineers through participation in code reviews of technologies like .NET Core, C#, Python, JavaScript (Angular, TypeScript, NodeJS).
  • Communicate technical concepts and educate the team by crafting living documents and diagrams, and through hosting lunch ‘n’ learns, or similar.
  • Analyze technical challenges and guide engineers to the best solution.
  • Facilitate collaborative architectural reviews that allow the team to evolve new architecture together.
  • Identify and mitigate critical design flaws, performance issues, and security vulnerabilities.
  • Model domain entities and data schemas in RDS (SQL Server, Postgres, MySql) and in NoSql (DynamoDB, MongoDB)
  • Improve the standards and processes used by the team, continuously, to ensure we are highly-performant and resilient.
  • Evangelize the DevOps philosophy by supporting and improving our automated build, test, and deployment pipelines, treating infrastructure as code, and ensuring applications are instrumented for proper monitoring.

Preferred Skills:

  • Prior experience building or supporting big data initiatives.
  • Prior experience building or supporting mobile applications.
  • Familiarity with the payment processing industry.
  • A background building single sign-on solutions.
  • Prior experience with Salesforce integrations.
  • Demonstrating your expertise and knowledge of AWS through certifications.
  • A background working with older technology, such as Classic ASP and ASP.NET Web Forms.
