Applications Engineer

 

A highly experienced, driven, technical job-seeker is needed for a on-site Applications Engineer position in Philadelphia, PA. As the Application Engineer, you will be responsible for the development of programs, significant to the very difficult in complexity, that support a business application.

 

Responsibilities of the Applications Engineer include:

  • Writing and reviewing business requirements and technical specification documents for thoroughness and accuracy.
  • Performing coding to written technical specifications for significant to highly complex business and/or technical requirements or problems.
  • Investigating, analyzing and documenting reported defects in own code and that of Software Engineers, Developers and Interns.
  • Creating, maintaining, and reviewing all technical documentation.
  • Developing, reviewing, critiquing coding techniques and recommends and new coding standards.
  • Developing applications/products against aggressive timelines. Developing applications/products in 3 to 4 person teams.
  • Reviewing and analyzing application requests and business requirements for completeness and understanding, modifying requirements where appropriate and communicates those changes effectively.
  • Conducting design and code reviews.
  • Effectively determining the estimate to design, build, and code, document and unit test so that accurate estimates can be provided to the Technical Supervisor.

Requirements:

Requirements of the Applications Engineer:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or equivalent degree
  • 5 years’ technical and programming experience
  • Demonstrable Software Development experience
  • Knowledge of database architecture and design
  • Experience working with Agile Methodology projects preferred
  • Ability to code software according to published standards and design guidelines
  • Experience in IBM ODM technology and agile methodology to succeed in this role
